We were sitting probably less than a hundred yards from where they were shooting off the fireworks at the beginning of the month; in about a three-foot radius, I found about half a shell's worth of cardboard fragments from the fireworks. Good stuff.
I think we could have better timed our purchase of a rack of ribs, though, because we had to cook it Saturday, which we did for lunch. It turned out really well, though... the perfect fall-off-the-bone tenderness... mmm... we finished off a rack between the two of us.
Saturday evening was the county fair, which was mostly unimpressive. We only went for the demolition derby, though, which was all right. It had its awesome moments, and had its slow moments.

I would have taken more pictures, but pictures don't quite capture the essence of a demolition derby. So I put together a little highlight reel of short videos I took. Don't critique it too much; I spent almost no time on it. There are things I'd change... like using an actual video camera, for one. Well, whatever. The link's below.
